Who we are

KDC Solar Background

KDC Solar is the successor company to Kamine Development Corp. (KDC), a Bedminster, New Jersey based company, established in 1985 to develop, own and operate gas fired cogeneration plants. KDC built seven cogeneration facilities in the New York/New Jersey area and was the largest independent power producer in the region. KDC’s facilities produced approximately 600 megawatts of power and arranged for approximately $800 million in financing.

When the solar market emerged in New Jersey approximately three years ago, Hal Kamine, along with several of his former key employees and advisers from KDC, returned to the power market. With the team back in place, KDC Solar was formed to address the solar market in New Jersey and the surrounding Mid-Atlantic States.

Our Mission

KDC Solar’s goal is to be a significant owner and operator of distributed generation solar facilities in New Jersey and the Mid-Atlantic States by providing long term discounted solar electricity businesses and institutions. KDC Solar is focused on building and operating “behind the meter” solar facilities of at least 2 megawatts which will reduce our customers ongoing energy costs, preserve and create long term jobs for our customers and, at the same time, benefit the environment through the reduction of the use of fossil fuels.

Based on its management team's long history of developing and owning grass roots utility scale projects, KDC Solar has the ability and experience to engineer, own, and operate solar power facilities. This experience, together with the knowledge of financial requirements and processes necessary to fully fund these projects with no capital cost to our customers, makes KDC Solar the right partner.
